Description:
Very rare plan of the Battle of Ramillies, Walloon Region, Belgium. It shows the marches and camps of the French and Allied armies towards the Battle of Ramillies, fought on 23 May 1706 between the Allied army (English, Dutch Republic, and Danish), commanded by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough and Henry, Count of Nassau and Lord of Overkirk and the French and Spanish, with the Electorate of Bavaria, commanded by the duc de Villeroi, and Maximilian II, Elector of Bavaria, resulting in an Allied victory.

The engraving comes from the book "Variae Tabulae Geographicae un quibus loca in orbe bello flagrantia conspiciuntur ut in Flandria, Brabantia, Leodiensi Tractu, Germania, Hungaria, . . . Diverses cartes de geographie, où l'in peut voir le theatre de la guerre dans tout le monde. Comme dans les pais de Flandres, de Brabant, de Liège, d'Allemagne, de Hongrie, . . . Den Haag, P. Very rare plan of the Battle of Poltava, Ukraine. It took place 8 July 1709 and was the decisive and largest battle of the Great Northern War. The Russian army under the command of Tsar Peter I defeated the Swedish army under the command of Carl Gustaf Rehnskiöld.
