Description:

One of the earliest views of the cities Rome & Genoa (verso) and the only large format 15th Century illustration of the Rome from the Schedel’s Nuremberg Chronicle, printed by Koberger in 1493 in Nuremberg.

The view is based on the plan of Giacopo Filippo. Easily recognisable the Castel de San Angelo, the Vatican, Colosseum, Pantheon, Belvedere and Mausoleum of Hadrian.

The Nuremberg Chronicles was the first printed history of the known world with about 2000 woodcuts the most picturesque work of the early time of printing. It became one of the most popular books of the 15th. century. Latin edition.

Condition:
Very good condition compare to the age, strong press on handmade paper. Centrefold reinforced. Few brownish spots and ancient handwritten annotations.
