Title: “POLONIAE ET HUNGARIAE NOVA DESCRIPTIO”
One of the earliest maps of Poland, with Lithuania to the North, south of the Danube, east to the Black Sea with river Dnieper basin and Bessarabia. Based on a map by Bernard Wapowski and for the lower Danube on Georg Reichersdorfer.
Comes from latin edition of Munster’s “Cosmographiae Universalis libri sex, in quibus iuxta certioris fidei scriptorum traditionem describuntur, omnium habitabilis orbis partium situs, propriaeque dotes…” published in Basel 1559. It was one of the most influential geographical works of the 16th Century.

Good condition. Strong print and paper, wide margins. Light water stains, few wormholes and repairs in margin.
