Title:           “Cracovia.”

Description:

Very detailed panorama view, from the north-west, of the Polish city of Cracow. The graphic view shows many of the important buildings, bridges, fortified walls and churches including 44 names at the bottom legend. On the hill of the Wawel there are five distinct coats of arms, including the noble family Visconti, the Duke of Milan and white nights (Vytis) of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Comes from Johann Ludwig Gottfried book  “Neuw archontologia Cosmica, das ist Beschreibung aller …”, engraved by Matthäus Merian and published by W. Hoffmans in Frankfurt, 1638.
