Description:
Gorgeous map of the Prussia, the Baltic region, extends from Memel ( Lithuania, Klaipeda ) to Pomerania, extending south to Poland. Centered on Dantzig and Konigsberg. The cartouche describes the Konigsberg assentation of Frederick III of Brandenburg, who crowned himself King of Prussia on January 18, 1701.
The map comes from the Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Maior Atlas Scholasticus ex Triginta Sex Generalibus et Specialibus…“ drawn Tobias Mayer and published by Homann Heirs in Nuremberg, 1716.
