Second edition of  travel compendium illustrated with a fine world map in two hemispheres prepared by de l’Isle. The hemispheres are surrounded by small portraits of nine explorers: Père Tachard SJ, de la Salle, Dampier, Magellan, Drake, Columbus, Vespucci, Marco Polo and Schouten. Contains the description of America, state by state; that of Louisiana contains the history of the discovery of the Mississippi by La Sale, April 7, 1683, his death, etc., Canada, Mexico, river of the Amazons, Magellanic lands (Chadenat, 3189). Decorative continent maps of Asia, Africa, Europe and a decorative print of a terrestrial and celestial globe and armillary sphere. Each text page printed from a copper plate. The title page illustrated with miniature world map in double hemisphere showing California as an island. Dated 1717!
