Attractive original hand colored antique map of Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Prussia, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. A gorgeous allegorical cartouche fills the Baltic Sea and features Ares, god of war, holding both a spear and a laurel wreath, the Polish-Lithuanian coat of arms under Wettin dynasty, and beehives symbolizing industry. Verso with contemporary annotations in German for the formation of the imperial army under Prince Eugen at the Battle of Belgrade on 18 July 1717 with corresponding illustrations. Great military historical importance!
