Description:
Very decorative map of the British Isles with inset map of the Shetland Islands. The decorative cartouche in the upper left includes the British coat-of-arms. In addition to the title cartouche, there is a title in English along the top margin. The first plate according to Shirley with ‘ao 1749’ in the title.

The map comes from the Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Maior Atlas Scholasticus ex Triginta Sex Generalibus et Specialibus…“  drawn Tobias Mayer and published by Homann Heirs in Nuremberg 1749.
