Description:

First edition of the Homann Heirs map of the British Colonies in North America, made during the French and Indian war. It covers from Newfoundland in the North to Florida in the South and Great Lakes in the center. A lower paragraph gives a brief history in German about the English discovery and establishment of colonies from approximately 1497-1729, listing major native indigenous nations, while an upper paragraph details interventions and occupations of the French in the new world, showing the territories colored in yellow, red and green by Spanish, English and French occupation.

Comes from Homan’s atlas “Grosser Atlas ueber die ganze Welt” under direction of Johann Christoph published in Nürnberg, 1756.
