Title:                      “Mappe Mondes sur Divers Projections”​

Description:
Rare and unusual world map centred on Oceania with five other projections surrounded the map; northern, southern, western, eastern and Mercator’s. This map is one of the first maps to show the area of southern Australia and Spencer’s Gulf. The title with allegorical figures of the continents and Venus surrounded by mermaids. Copper engraving published in “Atlas Complet Du Precis De La Geographie Universelle De M. Malte-Brun. Chez Francois Buisson, Libraire-Editeur, Rue Gilles-Coeur, No. 10.” in 1812.

Condition:
In good condition. Three small wormholes in the title. Two water stains on the lower part of the map. Beautiful contemporary hand colouring.
