Description:
Decorative, original hand colored, antique map of the imperial and free trade city of Frankfurt with the urban areas and surroundings of Hanau, Höchst, Kronberg and Vilbel.

At the bottom on the left you will find a scene from a Frankfurt fair with allegorical figures, namely Mars as the ancient god of merchants and thieves, Moenus as the embodiment of the important waterway, the Main, as well as a putto with grapes, which refers to the importance of the wine trade. In the middle a view of the city, in front the bastion of Sachsenhausen with the Taunus mountains in the background. On the right side, a picture cartridge framed by the imperial eagle, with allegories of Frankfurt, Germania and a putto framed with cornucopia, shows Frankfurt as the coronation city. In the cathedral choir of St. Bartholomäuskirche is currently crowning the elected king in the presence of the electors.
