Titles:           “Urbis Romae Veteris ac Modernae Accurata Delineatio edita a Ioh: Bapt: Homanno S.C.M. Geographo Norimbergae.”

Description:

A very decorative and remarkable detail bird’s-eye view plan of Rome. A lot of monuments and sites such as Coliseum, the Pantheon, the Piazza del Popolo, the Castel Sant’Angelo, Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica and many more are shown. At the top adorned with rich allegorical cartouches, left corner: of The Pope and Justitia, the Goddess of justice, right corner: The Papal tiara and the coat of arms of the Vatican city held by cherubs. On the right side present an inset with a brief history of Rome and along left side an inset with the names and principal churches and buildings within the 14 city districts. At the bottom a small inset plan shows the seven hills along with the fourteen coats of arms and a key to the corresponding city divisions.
