Description:
Highly decorative title page, from Homann’s “Atlas Novus” a later plate engraved by Michael Rossler, published in Nuremberg circa 1720. It shows in the middle, the globe focused on Europe and Africa, extensive staffage of figurative allegories of Greek mythology, including wind gods, Mercury, Neptune and Atlas, which holds the starry sky.

Condition:
Reasonable, original condition. Strong press on watermarked paper. Contemporary coloring. Few splits with old restorations.
