Description:
This is the first edition of the Sebastian Münster’s map showing all of France and parts of the surrounding countries. On the left side is a list of the regions of France, the latin name and modern name. The land is graphically engraved with mountains, rivers, forests and a coat of arms with a fleur-de-lis nicely decorates the map. Map comes from the German edition of Sebastian Münster’s Cosmography, titled “Cosmographey oder beschreibung aller Länder”, published ca. 1550 by Heinrich Petri in Basel.
