Description:
Decorative early map of the Duchy of Pomerania. In the upper corner, a portrait of the Pomeranian Prince Bogusław XIV the Younger, in the middle a shield with coats of arms of the 9 provinces of the Pomeranian Duchy, silhouettes of 4 tall ships, 3 winds of roses and a solitary sea monster. Two nice cartouches, in the lower left corner, the secondarily colored figures of the merchant and scholar, in the right corner of the Goddess of Plenty on the pedestal, surrounded by a group of putti. Published by Joanna Janssonius, it is a modification of the map of E. Lubinus by H. Hondius, with amendments by F. Palblitzke. Comes from the atlas “Nouveau Theatre du Monde ou Nouvel Atlas comprenant Les Tables et Descriptions de toutes les Regions de la Terre.”.
