Description:
Very decorative copper engraved map of Egypt and Nubia with Nile River Valley. The map is engraved with fascinating scenes of the cataracts, the Sphinx, pyramids, various antiquities, scenes of embalming, and ancient furnaces. One of the few maps by Johann Christoph Homann, the son of Johann Baptist Homann.
The map comes from the Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Maior Atlas Scholasticus ex Triginta Sex Generalibus et Specialibus…“ published in Nuremberg 1720.
