Description:
Rare Ptolemaic map of the area around Caspian Sea including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran, based on Martin Waldseemuller map published in 1513. Latin text within Renaissance woodcut panels and a city prospect on verso, probably designed by Albrecht Dürer.

Comes from the book “Opus Geographiae…” cartographer Lorenz Fries, published by J. Grüninger in Strasbourg, 1525.
