Description:

An early Sebastian Munster’s woodcut map of Scandinavia, based on the ‘Carta Marina’ of Olaus Magnus, 1539. The map includes Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Latvia and Estonia with the North Sea and Baltic Sea. The map comes with two pages describing the countries of Sweden and Norway, it contains various engravings of coat of arms, costumes, sea monster and etc.

Map comes from the German edition of Sebastian Münster’s Cosmography, titled “Cosmographey oder beschreibung aller Länder…”, published in 1578 by Heinrich Petri in Basel.
