As a hetman he contributed to the expansion of the Lithuanian artillery, but also to the issuance of regulations regulating the internal life of the army, disciplinary and judicial regulations. During his lifetime the Pac family reached the heights of importance, dominating Lithuania and pushing the Radziwiłłs and Sapiehas into the shadow. He founded the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Vilnius , Antakalnis . He was also buried there – according to his will, under the church’s entrance stairs. On the tombstone set into the floor is the inscription Hic iacet peccator (“Here lies a sinner”).
