Description:

Rare and large Jaillot sea chart of the Baltic Sea with the coasts of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. First state! A large inset depicts the harbor and entrance to the city of Dantzik (Gdansk). 

Comes from the Alexis Hubert Jaillot atlas “Neptune Francois …”, the first French atlas entirely dedicated to the navy, initiated by Colbert, Minister and Secretary of State for the Navy under Louis XIV. Engraved by Herman van Loon, published in Paris, 1693.
