Rare issue by German publisher Jeremia Wolff of de l’Isle’s map of South America which served as the model for European mapmakers and was frequently copied throughout the eighteenth century. Extensive detail is provided for the coasts. There are voyage tracks for Magellan, Drake, Maire & Schouten and Sarmineto. Numerous comments provide interesting information on local populations, geographical features and discoveries.
