Title:                      “Asia Concinnata Secundum Observationes Academiae Regalis Scientiarum . . .”

Description:

Rare issue by German publisher Jeremia Wolff of de l’Isle’s map of Asia which served as the model for European mapmakers and was frequently copied throughout the eighteenth century. Japan is connected to the mainland by a country identified as Terra Yeco, northwest is the fictional ‘Terra de la Compagnie‘ and Korea is shown as a peninsula.
