Description:
Highly decorative title page, from Homann’s “Atlas Novus” engraved by Caspar Luycken, published in Nuremberg 1720. It shows in the middle, the globe focused on Europe and Africa, extensive staffage of figurative allegories of Greek mythology, including wind gods, Mercury, Neptune and Atlas, which holds the starry sky.
