Spectacular woodcut of mythical sea monster eating a man and another runs for his life. Verso south-oriented map shows the course of the Rhine from Ingelheim, Bonn and Cologne to Dusseldorf with the Hunsrück and Eifel, Germany.
The woodcut comes from the German edition of Sebastian Münster’s Cosmography, titled “Cosmographey oder beschreibung aller Länder…”, engraved by Urs Graf, published by Heinrich Petri in Basel, 1578.
