Very decorative map of Western Hemisphere by Matthaus Merian after Jodocus Hondius’ map of 1618. It depicts an early and embellished version of North America, Central, and South America, images of ships and sea monsters, over 30 early settlements names, rivers, bodies of water excluding the Great Lakes, mountain ranges, the Tropic of Cancer, Capricorn, the Equator, and other areas of interest including locations of Native Americans identified in Latin text. Inset map of Greenland and Iceland with text box, top left of map.
