Description:

Extremely rare and highly detailed map of the French Basque Country, extending from north to south between Contis in the Landes and Zarautz in the Pays Spanish Basque. At the top left inset plan of the entrance to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, with a table mentioning the main places. The map is adorned with a compass rose and two galleons.

The map comes from the Jean Boisseau’s atlas “Theatre des Gaules…“ engraved by Hugues Picart, published in Paris 1642.
