Description:
Very decorative birds eye view of the Château de Miolans, a historical fortress located in Savoy, France. The fortress is situated on a rocky cliff overlooking the Combe de Savoie. It served as a prominent residence before becoming a notorious state prison.

The engraving comes from the Nicolas de Fer atlas “Les Forces de l’Europe, ou Description des principales villes, avec leurs fortifications.” engraved by Herman van Loon, published in Paris, 1693.
