Description:
Rare and decorative celestial chart, after works presented by astronomer Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr, showing clockwise from top observations by English astronomer Jeremiah Harrocks on Venus from 1639, moon observations from 1704 in Berlin by Johann Heinrich Hoffman , a discussion on types of eclipses, the ancient Greek Hipparchus’ trigonometry model and theories showing Parallax and Solar Eclipse predictions, ending with an illustration and table recording the observer, location and dates of Mercury’s movement around the sun from 1631-1736, and at center illustrations of full and partial solar eclipses surmounting a demilune map with corresponding table recording solar eclipses worldwide in the year 1706.

The engraving comes from Homann Erben atlas “Atlas Coelestis”, published in Nuremberg, 1740.
