1795 – J. G. Klinger – Der Erdkugel
Title: “Die Zwo Hälften Der Erdkugel Mit Einigen Astronomischen Bezeichnungen Zur Kenntnis Des Himmels Und Des Weltgebäudes Zu Haben In Der Bibelanstalt In Erlang. Es Sind Auf Dieser Karte Angebracht Die Neuesten Geographischen Entdeckungen Nebs.”
Very rare map of the World in two hemispheres by Johann Georg Klinger. Above and below of the world map are detailed, schematic drawings of the solar system as well as various celestial phenomena such as the eclipses of the moon and the sun, comets, Saturn and the Moon, the course of the earth around the sun and the path of the Moon around the earth. In the depiction of the solar system the planet Uranus is depicted at the point where Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel discovered it in 1781. The present World Map emphasizes the discoveries of Cook’s to a very special extent: on the two hemispherical halves, their rice eruptions and stations are marked with the respective year, as well as their violent death in the Bay of Kealakekua in Hawaii.
