The first map of Lithuania (first issued in 1595 and dedicated to Lithuania only) issued by Gerard Mercator – Jodocus Hondius, sixth French edition. This is one of the maps which includes Gerhard Mercator name as the map maker. It features over 70 settlements, including major cities like Vilnius, Kiev, Minsk, and Smolensk, along with pictorial representations of forests and mountain ranges.
Comes from the French edition atlas “Gerardi Mercatoris et I. Hondii Atlas ou Representation du Monde Universel, et des Parties d’icelui, faicte en Tables et Descriptions tres amples, et exactes: divisé en deux tomes. Edition nouvelle A Amsterdam chez Henry Hondius” published in Amsterdam, by H. Hondius, 1633.
