Rare and highly detailed copper engraving portrait of Povilas Jonas Sapiega (1609–1665).

Povilas Jonas Sapiega – member of one of the most famous and influential families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 17th century. In 1638 he became the Grand Campmaster of Lithuania, in 1645 – the Grand Postilin of Lithuania, in 1646–1656 – the Voivode of Vitebsk, in 1656–1665 – the Grand Hetman of Lithuania and Voivode of Vilnius.

The print comes from Galeazzo Gualdo Priorato’s book “Historia di Leopoldo Cesare, contiene le cose più memorabili succedese in Europa, dal 1656 fino al 1670. Descrizione dal co. Galeazzo Gualdo Priorato…”, engraved by Cesare Laurentio Fece, published by Johann Baptist Hacque in Vienna, 1670.
