Description:

A decorative double hemisphere map of the World showing magnetic inclinations, based upon works by Rhode, prepared for the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. In the lower margin there is a three-column detailed explanation of the phenomenon of magnetic inclinations. Incomplete projections of Australia and New Zealand. Stamped with the Prussian tax, privilege stamp.

Comes from Leonhard Euler’s atlas, one of the first German atlases intended for use in schools “Geographischer Atlas bestehend in 44. Land-Charten …“, engraved by Nikolaus Friedrich Sauerbrey, published in Berlin, 1752.
