Description:

Decorative map of the World on Mercator’s Projection, prepared for the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. In North America the Northwest coast is blank and a river provides passage between the Great Lakes and the Pacific. Incomplete projections of Australia and New Zealand. Stamped with the Prussian tax, privilege stamp.

Comes from Leonhard Euler’s atlas, one of the first German atlases intended for use in schools “Geographischer Atlas bestehend in 44. Land-Charten …“, engraved by Nikolaus Friedrich Sauerbrey, published in Berlin, 1752.
