Description:
Rare and highly detailed copper engraving portrait of Maria Radziwiłł (1625 – 1660), she was a Moldavian patroness and wife of the Lithuanian Grand Hetman Janusz Radziwiłł. Maria Lupu was a daughter of a Moldavian hospodar Vasile Lupu. Jonušas Radvila (1612–1655) – the son of the Grand Hetman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Kristupas Radvila and Ona Kiškaitė. The engraving was made after an oil painting by Abraham Westerfeld, Maria Lupu portraited in her wedding dress.
The print comes from Matthäus Merian book “Theatri Europaei continuati septennium: Das ist, Sieben-Jährige Historisch-außgeführte Friedens- und Kriegs-Beschreibung vom Jahr 1647 biß 1651…Tom. VI.” engraved by Peter Aubri, published in Frankfurt, 1663.
