Description:
Rare 1680, second edition, of Richard Blome’s map of the Polish – Lithuanian Commonwealth, the earliest folio sized map of the region to be engraved in England. The map was first issued in 1669, with a dedication “To the Right, Worshipfull Sr. Richard Otley of Pichford in Shopsheir Knight”.  This edition was issued in 1680, with a revised dedication and coat of arms, “To the Rt. Worship Full Sr. Robert Clayton of the Citty of London Kt. and Alderamn and Lord Mayr of thee of Anno 1680.”

Comes from the atlas “A Geographical Description of the Four Parts of the World Taken from the Notes and Workes of the Famous Monsieur Sanson, Geographer to the French King, and Other Eminent Travellers and Authors: To which are Added the Commodities, Coyns, Weights, and Measures of the Chief Places of Traffick in the World; Compared with Those of England, (or London) as to the Trade Thereof. Also, a Treatise of Travel, and Another of Traffick. The Whole Illustrated with Variety of Useful and Delightful Mapps and Figures…”, engraved by Francis Lamb and published by Richard Blome in London, 1680.
