Very rare woodcut depicting the ancient world is from the second edition of Schönsperger’s reduced, pirate version, of Hartman Schedel’s Nuremberg Chronicle, sometimes called the mini-Schedel. The map shows huge rivers and convoluted mountain ranges and enclosed in a border with twelve wind heads. At three corners are Noah’s three sons, Ham, Shem and Japhet.
The page comes from the Johann Schönsperger incunable “Das buch Der Croniken unnd geschichten” published in Augsburg, 1500.
