Title:          “Belgii pars septentrionalis communi nomine vulgo Hollandia nuncupata contines Statum Potentissimae Batavorum Reipublicae seu Provincias VII Foederatas. exhibente Io. Baptista Homanno, Norimbergæ.”

Description:

Decorative and very detailed map of Belgium and Netherlands. The map shows the Netherlands and partial maps of the Dutch spheres of influence in North America and Southeast Asia. It comes with two city views of New Amsterdam (New York) and Batavia (Jakarta), a large figurative coat of arms cartouche, a mileage indicator and a small map of Limburg. This is the only Homann map to include a view of New York City.

The map comes from the Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Atlas Novus Terrarum Orbis Imperia…“ published in Nuremberg 1720.
