Title:          “Iudaea seu Palaestina ob sacratissima Redemtoris vestigia hodie dicta Terra Sancta prout olim in Duodecim Tribus Divisa separatis ab invicem Regnis Iuda et Israel…”

Description:

Very decorative map of the Holy Land based on Sanson’s cartography. It presents the region divided into twelve tribes of Israel. The large title cartouche at upper left shows Moses receiving the Tablets of the Law on Mount Sinai. At bottom right corner, a small inset map delineating the Exodus, Moses and Aaron standing nearby.

The map comes from the Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Atlas Novus Terrarum Orbis Imperia…“ published in Nuremberg 1730.
