Description:
Rare and decorative antique map showing the future solar eclipse that took place on July 25 and four terrestrial hemispheres drawn up by Georg Moritz Lowitz and engraved by Ruprecht Adam Schneider, according to the solar and lunar tables established by the Swiss astronomer Leonhard Euler. The plate also presents three hemisphere projections depicting the locations of the penumbra (shadows caused by the eclipse) during three different time periods. Two title cartouches in French and German.
