Title:                   “Carte de L’Islande Pour servir a la Continuation de l’Histoire generale des Voyages Dressee sur celle de M. Horrebows”​


Description:

A very attractive copper engraved antique map of Iceland by Jacques Nicolas Bellin. The map is based on Peder Horrebow an Danish astronomer. It locates villages and churches and graphically delineates the mountains, including Mt. Hekla, rivers, lakes and forests. Inlay explanation a compass rose and large decorative title cartouche are present too. Taken from the book “Histoire generale des Voyages ou nouvelle collection de toutes les relations de voyages par mer et par terre” published by Jacques Nicolas Bellin in Paris 1758.
