Very rare plan of Jerusalem, Israel from Francesco Valegio’s townbook “Nuova raccolta di le piu illustri et famose citta di tutto il mondo” published in Venice 1595.

The book has begun soon after the appearance of the first volumes of Braun and Hogenberg’s Civitates orbis terrarum. The unknown compiler made use of the views in the Civitates as well as Guilio Ballino’s De’disegni, Francois de Belle Forest’s Cosmographie, Petrus Bertellius’ Theatrum, Münster’s Cosmographiae and other sources.
