Description:
Very interesting Coronelli’s map of the Old World, Eastern hemisphere, dedicated to Jacobo Marcello. The map covering most of Africa and the Indian Ocean, but no Japan or China or North East coast of Asia. Map includes the discoveries made by Abel Tasman in Australia. The signs of the zodiac, climatic zones, and other types of information form rings around the map, which is then set in a boldly engraved background with the dedication cartouche and the Venetian coat of arms. Map comes from Coronelli’s atlas “Atlante Veneto” published in Venice 1690. Map dated.

Condition:
Good condition! Very strong print on watermarked paper. Attractive hand colouring. Large marginal tear from left side to the center and one smaller on right side, very professionally repaired, hardly noticeable.
