Description:
Very decorative map of Great Britain and Ireland orientated to the west, based on Ortelius’ map with dedication to him in the title cartouche. The map presents major cities and rivers, 7 ships, sea monsters, rhumb lines and compass roses.

Comes from J. Jansson’s atlas of ‘Atlas Novus Sive Theatrum Orbis Terrarum’, engraved by Peter van den Keere in Amsterdam circa 1646.
