Title:                      “Asiae Nova Delineatio auctore N. Visscher.”​

Description:
Very decorative map of Asia and the East Indies, second state with Privilege at the bottom. The map shows Korea as a peninsula, China with the Great Wall depicted, Australia and New Guinea include new discoveries of Tasman, Janszoon and Cartensz, the delineation of Japan includes the discoveries of De Vries in Yedso. The map is ornamented with various types of sailing vessels, animals, a compass rose, a dedication and coat of arms of D. Henrico Spiegel (Senator of Amsterdam), animals on the African continent and a splendid title cartouche surrounded by mermaids and the angel of Fame.

The map comes from Nicolaes Visscher atlas “Atlas Contractus Orbis Terrarum Praecipuas ac Novissimas Complectens Tabulas…” published in Amsterdam 1677.

Condition:
Reasonable condition. Contemporary coloring. Left margin extended. Verso protected with japanese tissue. Margin reinforcements on verso (the map was framed before). Few minor marks and stains.
