Title:                      “Nova Asiae Tabula e majori in minorem hanc formam reducta a Ioh. Bapt. Homann excudente Christophero Weigelio Noribergae.”

Description:

Rare map of Asia continent based on an bigger map of Johann Baptist Homann. An interesting depiction of Japan, Hokkaido and Honshu are joined together. The decorative cartouche showing people bowing to an Asian emperor.

Comes from Weigel’s travel atlas “Bequemer Schul- und Reisen-Atlas” also titled “Atlas scholasticus et itinerarius“ published by Johann Ernst Adelbulner in Nuremberg 1718.
