Description:
Very decorative map of the eastern coast of the United States, covers Delaware, southern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, western Long Island, southwestern Connecticut, and portions of adjacent areas. It was used as a propaganda tool to promote German emigration to America. Title cartouche showing the settler at the top surrounded by trunks, barrels, gold, exotic fruits, fish and natives bearing gifts. This illustration suggested that America was the land of wealth and opportunity. Second state of the map.

Comes from Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Grosser Atlas über die ganze Welt” published in Nürnberg, circa 1730.
