Title: "Neue Tafel vor alle Liebhabere und See fahrende Personen Stellet vor ein ORLOG oder KRIEGS SCHIFF mit seinen Volligen Tour & Seil Werck Sampt einen Durchgeschnittnen Schiff auch Vor und Hinder-Theil Desgleichen Booten Chaloupen und Schiff-Heber, nebst noch mehr anderer Schiffs Geräthschaffti und Zugehörungen.”

Description:

A large, richly detailed copper engraving by Johann Baptist Homann depicting a 96-gun ship-of-the-line (Orlog, from the Dutch "oorlog," war) in full rig at anchor, with a lengthwise cross-section below showing the vessel's interior decks and compartments, each named as sailors of the period would have called them. Surrounding the central image are 17 subsidiary views and diagrams: construction details of a ship's hull and a chaloupe seen from above and in cross-section, a stern ornament ("Hackebord") and bow/figurehead detail, two styles of finished hull model, navigational instruments including a backstaff ("Spiegelbogen"), proportional dividers, a mariner's compass, an equinoctial compass, and a star-course table, plus two views of a "Kameel" or ship-camel — the inflatable/buoyant pontoon device used to lift heavy-draft ships over shallows. A specification panel lists the full hierarchy of a warship's crew, from Admiral-General down to ship's boys, and an extensive nine-column key at the foot identifies every numbered line, stay, and sail on the main ship by name. The sheet is headed "Cum Privilegio Sac. Caes. Majestatis" — the imperial printing privilege — which places this impression after the plate's earliest state, since the first edition (per Sandler's standard Homann bibliography) was issued without it.

Johann Baptist Homann, appointed Imperial Geographer in 1715, was the most prominent German map and print publisher of the early 18th century; this plate was occasionally bound into atlas, but circulated mainly as a separate decorative sheet, and surviving examples are notably less common than his regional maps.

The engraving comes from the atlas “Atlas novus terrarum orbis imperia regna et status exactis tabulis geographice demonstrans...“ published in Nuremberg circa 1720.

Title: “Prospect, Grundris und Gegend der Polnischen vesten Reichs und Handels-Stadt Dantzig und ihrem Werder.”

Description:

Antique map of the surroundings of Gdańsk (Danzig), Poland. The map is uniquely oriented to the East/Southeast (rather than North), which allows for a dramatic layout of the Vistula River delta flowing toward the Baltic Sea coast on the left. The large pink and white geometric sectors illustrate the Danziger Werder and Marienburger Werder. These areas show the intricate drainage channels, dikes, and agricultural plots developed heavily by Dutch Mennonite settlers to manage the low-lying delta lands.

A detailed architectural cityscape panorama titled "Prospect der Stadt Danzig" sits inside a decorative pedestal frame. It captures the famous skyline of the city from a distance, crowned at the top by the city's official coat of arms. Left vignette features classical allegorical figures, including a personification of Fame or Geography holding navigational tools alongside a globe. Right vignette depicts bustling harbor merchants, figures in traditional clothing, and shipping crates, celebrating the city's historic prominence as a major Polish Baltic trading port.

The map comes from the Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Atlas Novus…“, published in Nuremberg, c. 1730.

Baptista Homanno.”

Description:
Homann's, First State, of decorative map of colonial America in the era of the War of the Spanish Succession, based on Delisle's map of 1703. The map introduces the information from La Salle, Bienville, d'Iberville and other French explorers in America. It was the first map to accurately portray the mouth of the Mississippi and the Great Lakes region. Also accurately shown for the first time are the English settlements on the east coast. Sea routes of treasure fleets from Vera Cruz and Cartagena to Havana and Spain are outlined. Title cartouche depicts two native figures with items to trade, such as hides and blankets. In the Atlantic, there is a large scene of extensive gold mining operations, with Indians bringing their treasures to fill the Europeans' chest. Off the Pacific coast of Mexico is yet another opulent engraving of a raging sea battle, reminiscent of the battles fought in Queen Anne's War. This is the first state, without privilege in the imprint and with Floridae in the title instead of Ludovicianae.

Comes from Johann Baptist Homann atlas “Atlas Geographicus Major…” published in Nürnberg, 1715.
